During the past five years the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has resolutely confronted the issue of sexual abuse with extensive public reporting and admission of its own
past mistakes and by taking numerous actions to deal with incidents of abuse, safeguard children and aid in the healing of victims.
But clergy sexual abuse is also a complicated legal issue, in Los Angeles and elsewhere. The goal of this website is to provide background information about those
issues, with a particular emphasis on how the media have covered them. (More often than not, that coverage is either distorted or factually incorrect, and we’ll tell you so.)
- Media Watch. (And articles referring to the Los Angeles Times.)
- Myths the Media Tell You
- News on current developments
- Background and updates on the civil and criminal proceedings including a briefing on the constitutional issues involved
- Insight into how the Archdiocese's Zero Tolerance Policy came about
